Prerequisites
- A Meta Business Account (create one at business.facebook.com)
- A WhatsApp Business Account linked to your Meta Business Account
- A verified phone number for WhatsApp Business (must not be used with regular WhatsApp)
- A Meta App with WhatsApp product added (create at developers.facebook.com)
- A WebChatAgent account with at least one configured chatbot
💡 Note: The phone number you use for WhatsApp Business cannot be used with the regular WhatsApp app. Make sure to use a dedicated business number.
Quick start guide
- 1) Set up WhatsApp Business Account
Create a WhatsApp Business Account via the WhatsApp Business Platform. You'll need to verify your business and phone number through Meta Business Manager.
- 2) Get WhatsApp Business API access
Apply for WhatsApp Business API access through Meta for Developers. Create an app and add the WhatsApp product to enable API integration.
- 3) Connect in your Dashboard
Go to your chatbot's settings page in the WebChatAgent dashboard. In the WhatsApp Business section, click "Connect WhatsApp Business". You'll be redirected to Meta to authorize the connection.
- 4) Select Business Account and Phone Number
After authorization, return to your dashboard. Select your Business Account from the dropdown, then choose the Phone Number you want to use. Click "Save" to save your selection.
- 5) Configure Webhook (automatic)
WebChatAgent automatically configures the webhook with Meta to receive incoming WhatsApp messages. Your chatbot will start responding to messages sent to your WhatsApp Business number.
- 6) Test your integration
Send a test message to your WhatsApp Business number from any WhatsApp account. Your chatbot should respond automatically based on your configured knowledge base and settings.
